Hockaday participates with the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest Group Benefits Trust for our medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and long-term disability benefits. Being part of the Trust gives Hockaday and other Trust schools the rate stability necessary to remain competitive with our benefits. We have FSA, Dependent Care FSA, and HSA plans available through the Trust. The school also makes annual HSA contributions for those participating in the plan.
Dedicated to the health and wellness of its Faculty and Staff, Hockaday strives to create a community-wide wellness culture that promotes physical and mental health and well-being. Training and professional development is offered throughout the school year for faculty and staff to develop the knowledge, skills, and ability to become more culturally competent leaders, educators, and members of the school community

During an average year, Hockaday faculty are awarded nearly 50 study grants and attend approximately 120 conferences and workshops. Hockaday believes in learning as a life-long pursuit.
Conferences and Workshops Professional conferences and workshops occur throughout the year, including summer, and typically address specific disciplines or grade levels. These conferences and workshops may be online, local, or involve travel.
Study Grants Study grants fall into three categories: 1) Academic - to help faculty in their efforts to obtain advanced degrees; 2) Curriculum Development; and 3) Professional Growth (i.e., a language immersion experience).
Prentiss Grants Generous funds are made available through an endowment established by the Prentiss family. This grant, which rotates amongst the three divisions, offers teachers the opportunity to pursue summer travel experiences and education.
Although most professional development work is discipline or grade-level specific, faculty are also encouraged to seek support for broader professional development opportunities that address school-wide priorities, such as
Building a welcoming, inclusive school community for our diverse population
Supporting curriculum and teaching strategies that are well-designed, innovative, and forward-focused
Continuing to integrate technology as a tool in education
Complimentary lunch is provided daily during the school year. Our food service is committed to providing delicious and healthy food that includes hot entrees and soups daily, as well as a wide variety of cold options such as salads and sandwiches.
Full-time employees whose children are accepted through the school’s normal Admission process will be eligible for 50% tuition remission. Employees are also eligible to apply for financial aid. Happy Haps and Daisy Den, Hockaday’s supervised after-care programs, are discounted for benefit-eligible employees.
Space-permitting, Hockaday’s faculty and staff can take advantage of our on-site Ann Graves Child Development Center (CDC) for children 6 weeks to 5 years old. The below market rate cost of the CDC supports Hockaday's teachers and staff who would otherwise have to find alternative childcare.
