  • Hartman Fellow Dr. David Yeager

    Please join us on Thursday, January 29, to hear this year's Hartman Fellow Speaker, Dr. David Yeager.
     
    An expert on the psychology of grit and persistence, David Yeager has spent years researching how to motivate and equip young people for success. He can show us why our conventional methods of communicating with young people aged 10 to 25 tend to leave everyone frustrated, and he can teach us a better way of ensuring the younger generation feels inspired, enthusiastic, and empowered to do their best work.
  • Inclement Weather Notification

    If there are changes to the normal school day due to wintery weather conditions, the decision about whether to close campus or delay the start of classes will be made as early as possible and announced through the following channels: 
    If severe weather approaches during the school day, we will notify you of procedures for an early dismissal and/or changes to athletics schedules, co-curriculars, and off-campus activities. Your patience and understanding during these unexpected schedule changes are always appreciated so that we can maintain the safety of our students, faculty, staff, and families. 
  • Legally Blonde: The Musical

    We are excited to share that tickets are now available for our upcoming production of Legally Blonde: The Musical, and we would love for you to join us on February 5-6th at 7pm or February 7th at 2pm!  
    A fabulously fun, award-winning musical based on the adored movie Legally Blonde The Musical follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. With high-energy music, big laughs, and lots of heart, it’s a joyful celebration of staying true to yourself. However, please note that like the movie, this musical does have a PG-13 rating!

  • Re-Enrollment for the 2026-2027 Academic Year 

    Re-Enrollment for the 2026-2027 Academic Year will open on February 1, 2026, for all students in good academic and financial standing. Families will receive an email on February 1 with step-by-step directions for the process, along with the link to the enrollment agreement. Please note that all student accounts must be in good standing by Friday, January 16, to be eligible to receive re-enrollment contracts on February 1 for the 2026-2027 Academic Year. Students with past-due balances will be placed on financial hold until their accounts are current. Please contact Cyndi Lewis in the Office of Admission Enrollment Management with any questions.
  • Inclusion and Belonging at Hockaday

    The Office of Admission is hosting the Inclusion and Belonging at Hockaday Panel and Reception on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 6:00 –7:30 pm for prospective and current families. This event will be held in the Hicks Meeting Room and will highlight how having supportive relationships among students, teachers, parents, and alumnae cultivates a culture of belonging in our community.   • Thank You

    Thank you to Michael McCray and Alan Arnold for diligently coordinating teams and coaches and for organizing the Lower School sports sign-ups. Our community is so appreciative of all you do.

    Thank you to Laura Williamson Jorgeson for helping coordinate the Hockaday-St. Mark’s Joint Parents’ Associations Meeting. It was a lovely and informative morning listening to Drew Dutton, MEd, MBA, LPC-S, LCDC, ACPS speak on Growing Strong Minds: Brain-Based Parenting in the Age of Addiction

    Finally, a HUGE shout-out to several of our LIMITLESS Hockaday Celebration Committee members—especially John Coker for coordinating Coker’s Poker, and Carson Castellaw ‘05 and Lindsey Ambrose ’97 for chairing LIMITLESS Mahjong on January 31.


  • HPA 2026-2027 Board Volunteer Nominations

    The HPA board is comprised of a variety of positions - from grade reps to committee chairs to roles that support our entire school, including our teachers and staff! Positions are available for all types of schedules, commitment durations and availability. Check them out here by division or for the entire school:

    Charms are ready! Lower School students received charms in their book bags before the holidays in December. Middle and Upper School students’ charms are available for pick-up in the bookstore.   • Concession Stand

    Help cheer on our Daisy athletes during the SPC Championships by volunteering in the concession stand! We encourage parents of players, lower school students volunteering with a parent or guardian, and grandparents and special friends to help! To have concession stands open during sporting events, we need volunteers to work them and help share Daisy hospitality with our athletes, fans, and spectators. Please sign up now.

    Underwriting and Naming Opportunities: The Celebration committee has been hard at work to make LIMITLESS 2026 a massive success. Underwriting and naming opportunities for the Celebration on March 28 are available and we would love your support! Sponsorship can include LIMITLESS perks such as lunch with your daughter on her birthday, transportation to and from the Celebration, and much more! Your generosity is appreciated!

  • Uniform Resale Boutique

    The Uniform Resale Boutique is an annual project of the Hockaday Parents’ Association, and this year’s proceeds will support the Ela Hockaday Fund for Faculty Excellence. The boutique depends on your donations of gently used uniforms. Clean out your closets and let us sell your outgrown uniforms! We accept all gently used Hockaday uniform items, from blazers and jumpers to plaid skirts and white blouses. Please donate year-round in the donation bins outside near the main entrances of each grade-level carpool drop-off.

    Our next resale date will be Wednesday, February 4, 2026 from 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm on the third Floor of Upper Trent.   • Hockaday Lower School Parent Book Club

    Please join us for the second annual meeting of the Lower School Parent Book Club on Friday, January 23 at 8:00 am in the Hicks meeting room. The book club is reading Thrivers: The Surprising Reason Why Some Kids Struggle and Others Shine by Michelle Borba, Ed.D. Please plan to attend even if you haven't read the book. Michelle Goldsmith, Head of Lower School, and members of the LS faculty will facilitate this gathering
  • Valentine’s Day Classroom Parties - Thursday, February 12

    For all of you new to Hockaday and as a gentle reminder to those of you who may have forgotten, we ask that Valentine’s Day cards be simple, whether purchased or made at home. We request that there be NO food/candy of any kind attached.  Note: If your daughter brings valentines for her classmates, we request that she include everyone in her homeroom. Valentines may be exchanged only with girls in your daughter’s homeroom, not with those in other homerooms.

  • Save the date for Grandparents' Day

    Lower School Grandparents’ Day will take place on Thursday, April 2, 2026. We look forward to welcoming our grandparents and special friends that morning for a meaningful day of connection and celebration. More details coming soon. Please note:  In order to have both Middle School and Lower School grandparents on campus that day, Lower School will complete their events by 11:15 am and dismiss all Lower School students at 11:30 am. There will be no Happy Haps.

  • Carpool Reminders

    We recognize that dismissal can be a busy time, and we appreciate your cooperation to ensure student safety and preserve our positive relationships with our neighbors. A few reminders:
    • Parking or lining up on Welch Road or adjacent streets before the opening of the W2 Gate at 3:25 pm is not permitted. 
    • Dropping off or picking up students on Welch Road or neighboring streets is strictly prohibited. 
    • The Dallas Police Department will be actively enforcing traffic regulations on Welch Road and adjacent streets  the first two weeks of February. Vehicles that obstruct roadways or violate traffic laws during this period may be subject to Class C misdemeanor citations.

    All Coffees will take place in Biggs Dining Hall from 8:00-9:00 am. A reminder will also be sent to parents closer to the event date.

  • Eighth Grade Valentine’s Dance

    Eighth graders will host their peers from both St. Mark’s and Cistercian at our Valentine’s Dance on Friday, February 6, in the Small Gym from 7:00-9:00 pm. Students should wear festive attire and sneakers. Snacks and drinks will be served; please have your daughter eat dinner before the party. 
  • Grandparents' Day – Thursday, April 2, 2026

    We are excited to announce that Middle School will be welcoming grandparents to campus this year. Grandparents’ Day will be held on Thursday, April 2, and the program for grandparents of Middle School students will be in the afternoon. Students will have regular arrival and dismissal times, and Daisy Den and Middle School Athletics will follow their regular schedules. Parents will receive more details from Mrs. Christenson in a separate communication.

    Helping Middle School Girls Build Grit & Resilience
    Middle school brings academic challenges, shifting friendships, and growing independence. These experiences are opportunities for girls to develop grit and resilience. Research shows these are learned skills, not fixed traits.   • Valentine’s Day Celebrations in Middle School

    Valentine’s parties for all grades will be held on Thursday, February 12 in advisory from 11:10-11:40 am. Students may give valentines to their classmates in their advisory or to the whole grade. Valentine’s bags are being handed out and decorated in advisory; there is no need to bring in “special” boxes or sacks from home. Our Valentine’s parties are held in advisory groups and are very low-key events, allowing time for girls to enjoy Valentines from one another and some treats provided by SAGE. Students will be able to wear Valentine-themed/colored tops and accessories with their uniform skirts and shoes on that day as we celebrate.

  • Upper School Studio Art Exhibition Reception

    Please join us for the Upper School Studio Art Exhibition Reception on Thursday, February 10 from 12:30-1:30 pm in the Ann Bower ‘67 Gallery. Our artists have been working hard this school year on creating an excellent portfolio of work filled with experimentation, technical expertise, and personal messages. The reception is a great opportunity for us to celebrate them for their efforts and to hear more from the artists directly about their work. If you are unable to join us for the reception, we invite you to visit the exhibition, open from February 5 to 27.
  • Summer Credit Courses

    Hockaday will offer for-credit courses this summer for students entering Form II in the fall of 2026 and students who are new to Hockaday and entering Form II or III in the fall of 2026. All courses will take place from June 1 through June 26, and classes will not meet on June 19 due to the federal holiday. Click here for more details.
