    Join us for an unforgettable evening of music as the Upper School Orchestra presents its Spring Concert on April 22 at 7:00 pm. This special performance will include a heartfelt recognition of our graduating seniors through a memorable musical experience titled “For Good.” Together, we will celebrate their contributions, growth, and lasting impact on our orchestra community.   • Senior Heritage Receptions

    All members of the Hockaday community, including students, families, faculty, staff, and alumnae, are invited to the Class of 2026 Senior Heritage Receptions to be held this spring in Hicks Meeting Room from 6 –7:30 pm. Please save the dates and RSVP here for these upcoming events:

    Hockaday Dance presents the Upper School Dance Spring Concert on Thursday, April 16th at 7 pm in The Nancy A. Nasher and David J. Haemisegger Family Theater. Join us as we feature student choreography and honor Hockadance Seniors! The performance is general admission.
  • The Women of Lockerbie

    The Upper School Acting Lab class and the Hockaday Theatre Company are proud to present their public performances of The Women of Lockerbie by Deborah Brevoort on April 23 and 24 at 7:00 pm in the Lacerte Family Black Box. Admission to the event is free with the donation of canned goods.

  • Volunteer Spotlight

    Thank you to our wonderful Lower and Middle School Grandparents’ Day Chairs, Mimi Slater, Chandler Rice Winslow '02, and Bree Joubran. Your thoughtful planning and dedication made this year’s Lower and Middle School celebrations truly special. We are so grateful for the time, care, and creativity you brought to creating such meaningful moments for our girls and their grandparents.
  • Uniform Resale Boutique

    The Uniform Resale Boutique is an annual project of the Hockaday Parents’ Association, and this year’s proceeds will support the Ela Hockaday Fund for Faculty Excellence. The boutique depends on your donations of gently used uniforms. Clean out your closets and let us sell your outgrown uniforms! We accept all gently used Hockaday uniform items, from blazers and jumpers to plaid skirts and white blouses. Please donate year-round in the donation bins outside near the main entrances of each grade-level carpool drop-off.

    Our next resale date will be Monday, April 13, 2026 from 2 – 4:30 pm on the third Floor of Upper Trent. We are seeking more volunteers for help with laundry and sorting donations.  Click here to volunteer for laundry and sorting!   • PK Circus

    Parents of PK students are cordially invited to attend the PK Circus at 10:00 am on Friday,  May 1. Video order forms will be sent home in book bags and are due back to the Lower School office no later than noon on May 1.
    Reminder: all PK students will be dismissed with their parents at noon on May 1, following the circus and carnival.
  • Gordon’s Gems and Guidance

    Talking with children about safe and unsafe touch is an important conversation that should happen early and continue as children grow. You may notice that the term “stranger danger” is no longer used. Over the past decade, research has shown that most cases of inappropriate behavior involve someone a child already knows…such as a family member, neighbor, or trusted adult (including teachers, coaches, or youth leaders). In addition, the concept of stranger danger did not adequately address the preventive aspect of grooming or help children recognize and report concerning behavior.

  • Incoming Meeting for Class of 2034 Families

    Rising Fifth Grade families are invited to campus on Thursday, April 9, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm in The Nancy A. Nasher and David J. Haemisegger Family Theater. This meeting is for new and rising Fifth Grade parents and their daughters. At 5:30 pm, there will be a reception for families to socialize in the Hoffman Lobby of The Nancy A. Nasher and David J. Haemisegger Family Theater. The parent program about Fifth Grade will begin at 6:00 pm in the theater, and your daughters will be introduced to the rising Fifth Grade class and engage in fun activities around campus. Current Fourth Grade parents should have received an email communication from Mrs. Christenson the first week of March.

  • Fifth Grade Olympics – Let the Games Begin!

    It is time for the highly anticipated 5th Grade Olympics on Friday, April 10! This thrilling tradition is a highlight of our Physical Education curriculum and a day the girls will remember for years to come.  Country placements have been announced and teams are already hard at work practicing events during PE class. We have stressed the importance of sportsmanship and enthusiastic participation as the highest Olympic ideals, and we all look forward to a fun-filled day! We thank you for your support and hope you can join us for the event. Please check your email for a more detailed outline of the day's events. If attending any events, parents need to follow campus security guidelines by checking in at Hoak or LLARC and wearing the parent name badge.
     
    A few reminders for the day:
    • Each girl will be provided a shirt and customizing the shirt in any way is not allowed.
    • No face paint or temporary tattoos.
    • The students need to bring the following PE equipment – water bottle, mouth guard, shin guards, long socks, swimsuit, swim goggles, swim cap, towel, and sunscreen.
  • Third Term Interims

    Parents will receive a communication next week when third term interims are available online. Students receive an interim from their teacher when there are areas for growth and improvement that need to be noted. If no interims are written for your child, no interims will show up when you are allowed access. Teachers are asked to call or email parents in advance of the actual written interims.  
  • Seventh Grade Social Impact Field Trip 

    On Friday, April 10, seventh graders will enjoy a social impact field trip day. They will depart campus mid-morning and return in time for regular afternoon carpool pick-up. Students should bring a nut-free sack lunch and reusable water bottle. Students should wear a Hockaday t-shirt with jeans, leggings, or PE-approved sweatpants and sneakers; clothes should be appropriate for outdoor work and the weather. Students will engage in their theme of food insecurity by touring Paul Quinn College’s ‘We Over Me Farm’ and volunteering at ’Joppy Momma’s Farm.’  Students have been given a Field Trip Information Sheet to bring home with additional details.
  • Sixth Graders’ Language Selection for Seventh Grade 

    Sixth grade parents received a reminder email earlier this week explaining the process for world language selection for their daughters. The choices broaden in seventh grade to include Spanish, French, and Latin. Students were informed about their options in a recent class meeting. Please submit the online language selection form by Friday, April 10.
  • Sixth Grade Social Impact Field Trip on Wednesday, April 22 

    On Wednesday, April 22, sixth graders will enjoy a social impact field trip day. They will depart campus mid-morning and return in time for regular afternoon carpool pick-up. Sixth grade students will visit the Trinity River Audubon Center to connect with their social impact theme of water. They will hear from TRAC about the importance of the river and biodiversity to our lives and participate in water testing and exploring the grounds. Trinity River Audubon Center is a nationally recognized leader in site remediation and conservation. Students should bring a nut-free sack lunch and a reusable water bottle. Students should wear a Hockaday t-shirt, long pants, jeans ,leggings, or PE-approved sweatpants, socks that cover the ankles, and closed-toe shoes (sneakers). Bug spray and sunscreen are optional and recommended. Students will be given a Field Trip Information Sheet to bring home with additional information.
  • Student Council Elections 

    The Middle School Student Council will hold elections for the 2026-2027 officers this spring. Middle School Student Council offices include: 
    • President - Current seventh graders/Rising eighth graders 
    • Vice President - The student who is the runner up for president serves as Vice President. 
    • Speaker of the House - Current sixth graders/Rising seventh graders 
    • Secretary - Current sixth graders/Rising seventh graders 
    • Treasurer - Current fifth graders/Rising sixth graders 
    Middle School students in grades 5-7 received an email the week of April 6  with information on the duties of each office, how to file for office, and guidelines on campaign expectations. The deadline to file for office is Monday, April 13.  Elections will be held Friday, May 8. 
  • Save the Date - Virtual Musical Meeting for Rising 8th Grade Parents

    The Eighth Grade Musical Faculty Team will be holding a Virtual Meeting for current seventh grade parents and new eighth grade families on Thursday, May 7 from 6:00-6:30 pm to provide some useful preliminary information. Parents will be receiving a communication with the link.
  • Eighth Grade Graduation

    Eighth Grade Graduation will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11:00 am. Eighth grade parents and students received a communication in late March with additional Eighth Grade Graduation details and upcoming important dates. Please contact Mrs. Christenson with any questions. If you did not receive this communication, please contact Alexa Heck in the Middle School office.
