Championships and Alumnae Athletes

A History of Excellence

Hockaday's rich history of athletics dates back to its founder, Ela Hockaday, who named Athletics as one of her four cornerstones. Today, girls compete for championships in the Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) in basketball, cross-country, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, and volleyball. Hockaday students also compete for titles in crew and fencing.

Taking the Next Step

Many Hockaday student-athletes elect to pursue their athletic careers in college. This requires a coordinated effort between the athlete, her family, and the School.  Student-athletes interested in participating at the collegiate level work with the College Counseling office to assist them in deciding what role athletics should play in the college search, as well as important details about eligibility, recruiting, and scholarships.

Fifteen members of the Class of 2024 are continuing their athletic careers in college, adding to the 75 collegiate student-athletes who have graduated from Hockaday in the past seven years.
