Support Hockaday

You Make it Possible!

The Hockaday School is fortunate to have a community that is involved and committed to making the Hockaday experience exceptional for every student. Our generous community supports Hockaday both financially and with gifts of time as volunteers and trusted advisors. All of these contributions are truly appreciated. Financial support is solicited from the School’s many constituents including parents, alumnae, parents of alumnae, grandparents, faculty, staff, and friends of the School. The School’s current fundraising priorities are the following: the Annual Fund, the Endowment, and unrestricted facilities gifts.

Our community’s gifts to Hockaday, both financial donations and volunteer service, allow us to realize our mission and uphold the Cornerstones that are the bedrock of all that we do and teach. For that, we remain most profoundly grateful.

Ways to Give

List of 6 items.

  • Annual Fund

The Annual Fund is comprised of voluntary, tax-deductible gifts from parents, grandparents, alumnae, parents of alumnae, trustees, faculty, staff and friends. These gifts are unrestricted and support our students in tangible and measurable ways.

The Hockaday Annual Fund supports the many unique experiences that define a Hockaday education while also supporting the School’s faculty and staff. Through the generous support of our community, the Annual Fund can support the purchase of items such as mobile workstations, new photography cameras, debate, and robotics tournament fees, resources for student clubs, training for faculty, enhanced campus security features, and much, much more.
  • Endowment Giving

Hockaday’s endowment supports financial aid, faculty, programs and operations. At the close of our last fiscal year on June 30, 2024, Hockaday’s endowment totaled more than $217 million.

A healthy endowment can give a school a measure of financial stability and independence that it might not have otherwise. When the corpus is invested wisely and nurtured carefully and annual spending is set at a level reflecting expected long-term rates of return on the fund, an endowment helps to assure a school’s future while supporting its present needs. Investing in Hockaday’s endowment is an effective way to ensure the long-term health of the School.
  • Gifts of Stock

Hockaday accepts gifts of securities, and stock transfers can be applied to pledge payments. Gifts of appreciated securities offer tax advantages to the donor and are straightforward to arrange. Credit is given, and a tax deduction is allowable for the value of the mean of the high and low prices of the stock on the day of transfer to Hockaday. In addition, there is not a capital gains tax on the “long term” appreciated portion of the gift.

Instructions for Making a Gift of Stock
If you wish to transfer stock or mutual funds, contact Cathy Xu in the Hockaday Development Office or call 214.360.6582 with the name of the stock and the number of shares to be transferred. This notification is the only way the School can identify the donor. We will then provide you with the DTC or wire transfer instructions to initiate the transfer.
  • Matching Gifts

Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees. To find out if your company (or your spouse's company) has a matching gift policy, please check with them directly.

By requesting a matching gift form from your employer, the impact of your gift to Hockaday may be doubled.
  • Planned Giving

Planned Giving is one way for you to support important causes that matter the most to you. When you give to The Hockaday School, you help us make a difference — both now and for future generations. Learn More about Planned Giving Here.
  • Unrestricted Gifts

Unrestricted Facilities gifts can be made towards campus renovations and improvements. Not only do these gifts support the brick and mortar needs of Hockaday, but they are also support the academic and co-curricular achievements accomplished within those spaces.

Unrestricted Facilities gifts of $25,000 and above can be recognized with a physical naming opportunity on campus, such as a classroom, office, music teaching studio, or athletic field. Naming a physical space on campus is a special way to recognize the contributions of the School’s most loyal supporters. Spaces can be named in honor of donors, family members, cherished faculty and staff, or other loved ones.  For more information on naming opportunities, please reach out to Jessica Epperson at jepperson@hockaday.org or by calling 214.360.6579.
