Design Thinking Prototypes

Upper School’s Biology, Impact, and the Zoo class worked on prototypes this week to solve a problem.
Working in groups, they identified problems they had in their morning routine – getting up on time, fighting traffic, and getting enough sleep. Using the design thinking process, they brainstormed solutions and created a basic prototype for a product that would solve the issue presented.

Biology, Impact, and the Zoo is an Upper School Social Impact Science class, where students collaborate and apply design thinking to solve environmental issues in partnership with experts from the Dallas Zoo.

At the end of the year, they produce a culminating pitch to area industry leaders in a “shark tank” setting that addresses an identified environmental problem and competes for funding.
