Our parents are invaluable as chairs, volunteers, hosts and guests of the multitude of events and activities that have occurred this past month - including the Installation Ceremony, Lower and Middle School Halloween Parties, Upper School Daisy Diversions, Charms Sales, Admission Preview Events, Uniform Resale, Bookstore, 8th Grade Musical, Upper School Fine Arts Events, Fall Sports, Teacher Appreciation, grade-wide parent events, and much more! Thank you to everyone whose participation makes these cherished events possible! Read More |
Thank you so much to all of the Hockaday host families who put together such incredible offerings for our Special Occasions online sales! And to the parents who purchased events for themselves or Daisies - even more thanks! All the money raised from Special Occasions supports Hockaday's new and permanent Child Development Center - a wonderful part of our school community. Many events are sold out, but if there's something you're interested in attending, please contact Special Occasions Chair Heather Hays. We will definitely try to accommodate you! Events take place through the end of the school year - so whether it's finding out the latest in home design trends, dancing during a morning of Rotunda Rocks, or learning more about the state of the country, there's something for everybody! |
The Hockaday Dance department presents From the Page to the Stage on Wednesday, November 15 at 7:00 PM featuring music by composers who are famous for their compositions for dance. Haemisegger Family Center for the Arts, free general admission seating is available and friends and family are welcome. |

Please welcome Sarah Carmichael to the Hockaday faculty as Private Violin and Viola Instructor and Instructor for the Second Grade Strings Program. Sarah got her start in teaching music nearly twenty years ago through the University of Texas String Project teacher training program, and has participated in extensive teacher training in the Suzuki Method and the Galamian method of teaching since that time. An Atlanta, Georgia native, Sarah started her violin studies at the age of 4 in a Suzuki program, so the transition from student to teacher was a natural one during her time at UT Austin, where she completed both her undergraduate and master’s degrees in Violin Performance. After completing her studies in Austin, she moved to the Dallas area, where she currently maintains a private violin studio at her home. Read More |
Join us Thursday, November 2 from 8:00 – 9:30 am for a HPA Speaker Event featuring Director of Athletics and Physical Education Tina Slinker. Coach Slinker will discuss the importance of maintaining a balance in sports participation and how to maximize your daughter’s performance in sports. She will cover key aspects of getting the most out of sports opportunities and address vital aspects of the value sports have to offer. As a coach, author, and speaker, Tina Slinker has made it her mission to touch people’s lives in a positive and affirming way, either through the one-on-one contact in a coaching environment, or reading her book, For the Love of Mom, it’s readily apparent that Tina truly cares about people. She inspires, motivates, and challenges people to get the very best out of themselves and others, and to be present to learn life lessons along the way. Tina is the Director of Athletics and Physical Education at Hockaday. Previously, she was the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, where she and her teams achieved numerous milestones, including four Conference Championships, back-to-back appearances in the WNIT, and the Big West Coach of the Year award for the 1998–1999 season. She departed as the winningest coach in North Texas women’s basketball history, posting 241 wins in 19 seasons. |
