A Letter from Anna McPhail

Dear Parents,

These first few weeks of school have been as busy as ever! I hope you and your families have enjoyed back to school events and are settling in the routine that a new school year brings.

Many parents played a role in a creating a warm welcome to the school year. Thank you for volunteering at Back to School Day, organizing fall sports and activities, welcoming our boarders, planning parent coffees, hosting kickoff parties, and so much more! Read More
Over 628 unique parent volunteers have signed up on the Volunteer Website to participate in at least one of 323 different opportunities. This is tremendous! Thank you for being so involved!

I’d like to extend a special thanks to our Fun Day Co-Chairs, Mayda Gonzalez Armendariz and Bennett Cunningham. With Mayda and Bennett’s leadership and the fabulous support of over 180 Hockaday parent and student volunteers, PK-6th Grade Families were able to come together last Friday with our St. Mark’s peers and enjoy a fantastic Luau carnival!

Finally, I hope you will join us on Thursday morning, October 12th at 8:15 am for the HPA Kickoff Meeting featuring Dr. Lisa Damour. All Parents are encouraged to attend. A bestselling author on the topic, Dr. Damour will address how we can strengthen our relationships with our daughters as they navigate the unique stages of adolescent development. Please see below for more information and a link to RSVP.

Again, thank you to everyone for your enthusiasm and boundless support of Hockaday as we embark on this school year!

Warm regards,

Anna McPhail
HPA President

PS – Just a quick plug that The Hockaday Bookstore still has a few more volunteer spots to fill! Contact Julie Parolisi if you would like to work a short shift as a cashier in the Bookstore. It’s a great way to support our girls and spend time on campus!
