A Letter from Anna McPhail

Dear Hockaday Parents,

It’s hard to believe that November is already here! As we enter the holiday season, one of the many things that we can be grateful for is the engaged and caring parent community that thrives here at Hockaday. Our parents are invaluable as chairs, volunteers, hosts and guests of the multitude of events and activities that have occurred this past month - including the Installation Ceremony, Lower and Middle School Halloween Parties, Upper School Daisy Diversions, Charms Sales, Admission Preview Events, Uniform Resale, Bookstore, 8th Grade Musical, Upper School Fine Arts Events, Fall Sports, Teacher Appreciation, grade-wide parent events, and much more! Thank you to everyone whose participation makes these cherished events possible!

Our amazing community has also come together in a big way to support our faculty through Special Occasion purchases. Congratulations to Heather Hays and our 90 host families for orchestrating these unique experiences. The movie on Graduation Terrace and the Moms’ Hip Hop party were great successes. Events and parties are ongoing and continue throughout the school year. There are a few remaining spots! Contact Heather Hays or visit Special Occasions Online to reserve.

Coming up on November 29, please join fellow parents for our evening Expert Panel Discussion at 7:00pm. Centering around the topic of Preparing Students for a Globally Connected World, the discussion will be lead by a panel of distinguished business leaders including Doug Parker, Paul Savoldelli, Nina Vaca and Claudia Mirza. Click here for more information about the panelists and this event hosted by our Cultural Connections Committee.

Looking ahead, you won’t want to miss our next HPA General Meeting coming up on December 6, at 8:15 am. We will enjoy remarks from Dr. Coleman and three faculty speakers who will share with us some of the exciting ways they bring their own professional development experiences into our daughters’ Lower, Middle and Upper school classrooms. Hope you can join us!

Thanks for everything you do for Hockaday and our girls! Happy November and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Warmest regards,
Anna McPhail
