First Graders Learn About Wildlife Rehabilitation

First Graders welcomed Paula Hagan from Rogers Wildlife Rehabilitation Center this week, who talked about the work Rogers does with birds in need.
Rogers Wildlife Rehabilitation Center was founded by Kathy Rogers ’68, and has rehabilitated tens of thousands of birds over the years. Earlier this year,  an injured Canada goose was found in Hockaday’s parking lot. Lower School teachers brought the goose to Rogers Wildlife for care, and the First Grade students wrote thank you notes to the center for caring for the Hocka-goose! The First Grade Social Impact theme is “Caring for Animals in Our Community,” and throughout the year, students learn about the important role animals play in our lives and how to care for and protect them!
