Varsity Volleyball Wins SPC Title

Hockaday Varsity Volleyball won its third SPC title in four years this weekend after defeating Houston St. John’s 25-19, 25-16, 25-23 in the Southwest Preparatory Conference’s Class 4A championship match.

Senior Olivia Wayne had 19 kills, 12 digs and five blocks to lead the Daisies. “It’s so cool to bring a championship in Coach Allison Camp’s first year,” she told the Dallas Morning News.

Hockaday finished the season with a 24-19 record and did not lose a set in SPC play this season.

“The word discipline is what we hit on at the beginning of this year because things would be different with people playing different roles,” said Allison Camp to the Dallas Morning News. “We had to play a disciplined game, and I think that showed in the way we defended ball and attacked balls,” Camp said. “My motto for the past six years is the volleyball will come and go, but if we can prioritize the family culture of this program, the volleyball is going to get better and better. I’m proud of this group, and excited for the future.”
