Co-Curriculars
Sharing time and talents
Students in Athletics build the leadership skills outlined in the five outcomes and engage in authentic real-world opportunities for impact. Each team repurposes one practice each season to teach the sport to a local elementary partner or after-school program and leaves behind equipment for the students so they can continue to play the sport.
Fine Arts classes across divisions have teamed up with the Institute for Social Impact to integrate elements of social responsibility and an element of sharing talents and time with other communities.

Cultural Connections
Students in Fine Arts share their love of their discipline by working with DISD students to choreograph dances, perform theater pieces, and more. -
Curriculum Through Art
Fine Arts classes like theater and orchestra help students in DISD learn for STAAR testing by basing performances on curriculum, like this Orchestra performance of Texas-based music for seventh grade students taking Texas history. -
Getting a Head Start
Varsity teams will often bring equipment to introduce their sport to DISD students, and leave behind balls, nets, uniforms, and other items needed to play. Hockaday students are often inspired to start coaching teams or build playing fields for schools! -
Introducing the Game
Each varsity team repurposes a practice to introduce their sport at a local DISD school or community center. Students run workshops and share insights to generate interest in trying a new sport or maintaining a healthy lifestyle through exercise.
