    Mark Alewine has been teaching woodwinds (flute, clarinet, saxophone and oboe) at Hockaday since 1998, and teaches privately in the Plano and Richardson independent school districts as well.  He earned a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Arts from West Texas A&M University where he studied saxophone with Don Lefevre, and flute with Sally Turk.
     
    He is an active woodwind performer and adjudicator throughout Texas, and has served as guest clinician at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention on several occasions. His students have garnered many awards including TMEA and TPSMEA all-state bands and jazz bands, Texas Association of Symphony Orchestras young artist competition, Plano Symphony young artist competition, the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra Wind Symphony, and the Dallas Asian American Youth Orchestra. His professional and student quartets have also appeared as finalists in the Fischoff National Chamber Ensemble Competition.
     
    Mark has performed with the Texas Wind Symphony, Dallas Wind Symphony, Texas Saxophone Quartet, Turtle Creek Chorale, Dallas Women's Chorus, Dallas Theatre Center, Theatre Three, Water Tower Theater, and many other musical theatre productions in the DFW area.
