Parish Meet

It was another beautiful day for our second meet.  Parish Episcopal hosted St. Marks, Greenhill and Hockaday.  The meet started with the field events of Shot Put and Long Jump.  We had two top throwers in the Shot Put with Sophia Afzalipour and Maison Reese both throwing 18’6”.  We also had two girls jump over 14 feet in the Long Jump.  Ashna Tambe was our top jumper of 14’7 ½” and Ava Thigpen went 14’1”.  Our first running event was the 3200M run and we had one runner, Sophia Fowler, who won the girls division with a time of 14: 37.  The 4x200 was the next event and we had 3 teams bring the baton around.  Our top finishing team of Amalia Evans, Ashna Tambe, Avery Jackson, and Zariah Arrington ran a 1:54.38.  The next event was the 800m run and we had the top three finishers: Ava Thigpen (2:41.97), Katherine Shoup (2:49.08) and Katelyn Hanna (2:58.25).  We had a great showing with another top three finishes in the 100M Hurdles.  Ava Thigpen won the event (after practicing one day) with a 19.54, Lila Noack got a close 2nd with a 19.61, and Charlotte Franklin was 3rd with a 20.78.  Thirteen Hockaday girls ran the 100M.  We had a speedy top three runners in Zariah Arrington (13.24), Ashna Tambe (13.72), and Avery Jackson (13.84).  The final event, the 400M, gave Hockaday a top three finish as well.  Avery Jackson was our top finisher with 68.03, Ava Thigpen was second with 68.64, and Zariah Arrington was third with 69.06.  All the girls did well today, and we had many improved times and personal best.  We have a quick turn around as our next meet will be at Hockaday on Tuesday, March 10.
