2021 US Musical “Song for a New World” by Jason Robert Brown

The highly anticipated film of this year’s Upper School Musical “Songs for a New World” by Jason Robert Brown can be viewed here through May 9, 2021. Due to some language and subject matter, this show is recommended for 7th grade and above. The Upper School Fine Arts department selected a musical that reflected the challenging times our students have been living in and adapted the process of production to the medium of film. While retaining choral excellence and performance opportunities for the cast, the company’s technical crew designed set pieces and collaborated with visual arts students for graphic, digital and video contributions to the film. The Hockaday orchestra provided string players for added richness in accompaniment and the dance department provided movement and expression. Together the department worked throughout the year to create this 1 hour and 25 minute film presentation.
