From the Lower School Handbook: No-Rescue Policy: A True Gift to Children!
• We ask that parents NOT bring forgotten homework, swim bags, or other items to school for their daughters.
• When they forget something and have to do without it for that day, children learn quickly to take responsibility for their day-to-day school life, whether it’s doing their homework and returning it to the appropriate place, returning library books on time, or bringing requested items such as swimsuits, caps and towels, show and tell, etc.

While your child will likely be disappointed or upset when she forgets something, you are allowing her to experience these important emotions in a low stake’s situation with lots of support. Feel free to blame it on the school and say you aren’t allowed to bring the item. Making mistakes like this is a critical part of a child’s development. To quote Jessica Lahey, author of The Gift of Failure, “The failure our children experience when we back off and allow them to make their own mistakes is not only a necessary part of learning; it’s the very experience that teaches them how to be resilient, capable, creative problem-solvers.”
