Middle School Students Excel in Language Competitions

Latin students competed in the Junior Classical League Area Competition this month, and Spanish students participated in the Spanish Competition hosted by Good Shepherd Episcopal School.
 
Middle School Latin:
Avery Bloom and Tennessee Marsh (7): 1st poster
Zoe Fritz (7): 1st computer enhanced photography, 2nd traditional photography, 1st mythology, 1st Latin oratory
Susan Illich (7): 1st Greek derivatives, 1st reading comprehension
Olivia Zhang (7): 1st decathlon, 2nd grammar
Saanchi Gaabri (8): 1st Latin derivatives, 1st mythology
Piper Glowacki (8): 4th computer enhanced photography, 3rd models, 5th vocabulary
Quinn LeRosen (8): 5th mosaic, 2nd decathlon, 4th mottos
Eleanor Roden (8): 2nd comics, 2nd sculpture, 1st decathlon, 3rd mythology
      
The novice certamen team made up of Zoe Fritz, Olivia Zhang, Saanchi Gaabri, and Eleanor Roden won 2 of their 3 preliminary rounds to advance to the finals. Up against champion teams from The Covenant School and St. Marks, the middle school team pulled off a stunning upset to take 1st place and become the new novice certamen champions for our area!
