    Bio
     
    Joining Hockaday as the Upper School Writing Center Director, Lisa Fisher brings more than 25 years of teaching and legal experience to this position. Most recently she was a writing instructor at Seton Hall University, where she taught freshman English courses involving both non-fiction texts and works of literature with the goal of improving students' rhetorical knowledge, critical thinking, writing processes, and knowledge of conventions. Additionally, she participated in the First-Year Writing Committee, a pilot program for curriculum development and improvement in English. As a committee member she developed effective pedagogical strategies and rhetorical methods. In addition to being an educator, Lisa was a practicing attorney and has advised clients on general legal matters, business contracts, wills and estates documents, and residential real estate transactions. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Texas A&M University, a Master of Arts in English with honors from Seton Hall University, and a Juris Doctor degree from The University of Texas School of Law in Austin.

    Bio
     
    Dr. Juliette Flanagin has been teaching at the Hockaday School since 2014.  A Dallas native, Dr. Flanagin began playing the piano at age 4 and performed her debut solo recital at age 15.  After graduating Cum Laude from the Hockaday School, she earned Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees in Applied Piano from the Eastman School of Music and a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from the University of Texas at Austin. 

    Dr. Flanagin has been teaching private, partner, and group lessons for over 25 years at her home and at the Gray School of Music. Her pupils range from age 4 to adult and she has had winners in the Dallas Jazz Festival and TMTA Composition Competition. An award winning teacher, she received the Texas Excellence in Teaching Award for Teaching Assistants for her instruction of class piano at the University of Texas at Austin. Active in a variety of organizations, Dr. Flanagin was one of the founding members of the Hockaday School orchestra and serves on the board of the Richardson Music Teachers Association.  She returned to Hockaday in 2005 as a guest panelist for the Hockaday Alumni in the Arts program. Dr. Flanagin also led a group presentation on the format of studio performance class at the MTNA National Convention in Minneapolis.

    Currently, Dr. Flanagin maintains a private piano studio at her home and at the Hockaday School. An active performer, she has played numerous solo, chamber, and collaborative recitals throughout the United States. She also adjudicates for various piano festivals and enjoys freelance work with various schools in the area.  Dr. Flanagin loves to spend time with her husband and three children and enjoys cooking, reading and gardening.
