Hockaday Welcomes Allman Fellows

This week, Hockaday welcomed the 2024–25 Allman Fellows, Dr. Twila Moon, Deputy Lead Scientist and Science Communication Liaison at the National Snow and Ice Data Center, and Dr. Heïdi Sevestre, Glaciologist, Speaker, and Author, to campus.
Following the parent presentation, they spoke with Seventh and Eighth Grade students about climate change, visited a Sixth Grade science classroom, and presented at an Upper School assembly. They also facilitated a Climate Science and Collaborate Challenge with select Form I students, who worked with students from Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School and students from Young Women’s STEAM Academy.

The Margaret D. Allman Speaker and Fellowship, established in 1976 by Mr. and Mrs. Otto K. Wetzel, Jr., honors Mrs. Wetzel's mother, Margaret Deavours Allman ’23. The title is awarded to a Hockaday speaker annually who serves as a role model in literature, science, or the arts.
