Diwali

Diwali, the festival of lights is celebrated by Hindus in India, and all over the world. The festival symbolizes the victory of good over evil, and of light over darkness. It is celebrated by lighting clay lamps, exchanging gifts and sweets, and by setting off firecrackers. People organize parties and visit friends and family during this time. Diwali also celebrates the goddess of wealth and prosperity, Lakshmi. The festival falls on a different date each year, depending upon the Hindu lunar calendar. This year Diwali will be celebrated on November 7. Dining Hall will be cooking and serving several Indian dishes that day.
