A Message from Randal Rhodus

Dear Lower School Parents,

Have you begun to feel the excitement and frenzy of the end of school? April and May are very busy months of the school year. There are many exciting field trips, performances, and presentations scheduled inside and outside of school. With all of these events going on, it is important that your daughters and you receive plenty of sleep and “down” time. With this rest, your daughters will be able to really enjoy the end of the year. Read more

Yesterday, we had our Kindergarten/Primer and 1st-4th Grade New Families meetings, and next week, we will welcome 36 new PK families to campus. I want to thank Katharine Friguletto, the 2016-2017 HPA President, and next year’s grade reps, outreach chairs, and extracurricular activities liaisons for being part of these meetings to help welcome our new families.

I would like to remind you about two calendar items for the upcoming week. Please join us for our final LS Parent Education Program this coming Monday, April 11 from 8:00 - 9:00 in Hoffman Commons. During this program, you will learn about ERB tests and all of the assessments that are administered in Lower School and how we use them to enhance your daughter’s learning in Lower School. Our Lower School Learning Support Team will also share how we support students in Lower School.

Additionally, we have added an optional event for rising 1st grade families. Immediately following next week’s Rotunda Rocks, our Lower School World Language teachers will host a brief 30-minute informational session about our World Language program and language placement options for 1st grade. We are hopeful that this meeting will help families in their decision for selecting a language for their daughter to study.

I look forward to seeing you all at one of the many upcoming events on campus.

Sincerely,

Randal Rhodus
Head of Lower School
