Learning Support

Dr. William B. Dean Academic Learning Support Program

The Dr. William B. Dean Academic Learning Support Program seeks to help all Hockaday students reach their maximum potential.  Any student at Hockaday is welcome to receive assistance from Learning Support – regardless of whether she has a diagnosed learning difference.  The department’s goals are to empower all students in self-advocacy, to assist teachers in the practice of differentiating instruction, and to support parents in their daughter’s educational journey.

The Learning Support team collaborates with administrators, faculty, parents, and staff to best support educational excellence for every Hockaday student.  Working across all three divisions and in concert with school counselors, the Health Center, and College Counseling, the Learning Support team provides services to those who need additional instruction in effective learning strategies; new students in transition to Hockaday; students with temporary medical needs, such as concussion or mobility issues; those identified as at-risk or in need of intervention to best address a learning concern; and those with documented learning challenges.
